WHAT WE FIND
5 Issues We Find in Almost Every Pardot Audit
These aren't edge cases — they're the rule. If your org has been live for more than a year, chances are at least three of these apply to you right now.
#1
Sync Error Queue Not Being Monitored
Unresolved sync errors between Pardot and Salesforce are one of the most common — and most damaging — issues found in audits. Errors pile up silently, meaning leads stop syncing, data becomes inconsistent between platforms, and sales teams are working from incomplete records. Most customers don't realize the queue exists, let alone that it needs regular attention.
#2
Still Running on the Classic Interface
Many Pardot users are still operating in the legacy Classic interface without realizing they're missing out on significant functionality available only in the Lightning App. Features like engagement history, connected campaigns, and the newer automation tools are either unavailable or heavily limited in Classic. Migrating to Lightning is a foundational step before almost any optimization work.
#3
Connected Campaigns Not Enabled
Without connected campaigns enabled, Pardot and Salesforce campaigns operate in silos — meaning reporting is fragmented, attribution is unreliable, and there's no single source of truth for campaign performance. Enabling it unlocks proper multi-touch attribution and aligns marketing and sales around the same campaign data.
#4
Syncing Fields Not Mapped or Behaving Unexpectedly
Field mapping between Pardot and Salesforce is frequently set up once and never revisited. Over time, fields get added in Salesforce with no corresponding Pardot field; sync direction is set incorrectly (causing Pardot to overwrite good CRM data), or key fields are missing entirely. A field audit often surfaces data integrity issues that have been quietly causing problems for months.
#5
Prospect Scoring & Grading Not Configured or Actively Used
Pardot's scoring and grading system is one of its most powerful features, but it's left at default settings in the vast majority of accounts. Default scoring treats a link click the same way regardless of context, and grading profiles are rarely tailored to the actual ideal customer profile. Without a properly configured model, lead quality signals are meaningless and sales teams quickly lose trust in the data.

FAQ
Common Questions About the Audit
What's the difference between Account Engagement and Pardot?
They’re the same product. Salesforce renamed Pardot to “Marketing Cloud Account Engagement” in 2022. All functionality is identical — both names are used interchangeably.
How long does a typical audit take?
It depends on the format. A Live Audit Call is 45–60 minutes. An Async Expert Review takes 3–5 business days. A Full Health Assessment typically takes 5–7 business days plus a readout call.
Do we need to give you access to our Salesforce org?
For the Async and Full Health Assessment options, we’ll request read-only access to your Account Engagement instance. For the Live Audit Call, you simply share your screen — no access required.
What happens after the audit?
You’ll receive a prioritized action list. Many clients choose to engage us to implement the recommendations, but there’s absolutely no obligation. The audit stands on its own as a valuable deliverable.
Our team set up Pardot years ago — is it worth auditing?
Absolutely. In our experience, accounts that were set up more than 18 months ago almost always have accumulated sync errors, unmaintained scoring models, and missed Lightning migration opportunities. An audit typically surfaces at least 3–5 high-priority issues.
